Democratic Staffer Arrested For Delivering Letter In Texas

Jacob Aronowitz, a staffer for Texas Democratic Congressional Cadidate Mike Siegel, was arrested for delivering a letter to Waller County, Texas courts regarding voter registration and was asked what his political party was.

In what could be a growing trend in the U.S., a Democratic staffer was politically targeted by a Texas county court when delivering a letter asking the county to clarify its recognition of the legality of a historically black college’s student body.

Students who attend the college may not be from the county, but under the law should be allowed to vote because they are a resident of the county. However, Waller County has a history of disallowing black voters, and even indicting them for “illegally voting” despite the fact that they had the legal right to vote.
